The 2026 Dongfeng Nammi 01 EV, a compact hatchback, has made its debut in the Chinese market, boasting a price reduction of $2,000 compared to its predecessor. With a competitive range of 430 km, the new model aims to capture a significant share in the entry-level electric vehicle segment.
Dongfeng has officially launched the 2026 version of its Nammi 01 EV, a compact electric hatchback that caters to urban drivers with its sleek design and advanced features. The vehicle is offered in eight different variants, starting at an official price of 59,800 yuan (approximately $8,400 USD), with a promotional launch price of 58,800 yuan ($8,250 USD). This makes the Nammi 01 EV $2,000 cheaper than its predecessor, positioning it as a strong competitor against popular models like the BYD Seagull and Geely Geome Xingyuan.
The Nammi 01 EV maintains its compact dimensions, measuring 4,020 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a 2,663 mm wheelbase. These proportions are ideal for city driving, offering maneuverability and ease of parking. The car's exterior features include hidden door handles and LED through-type daytime running lights, enhancing its modern appeal.
Inside the Nammi 01 EV, drivers will find a minimalist interior equipped with a 5-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central display, now boasting a 1920x1080 resolution. The infotainment system is enhanced with AI-based voice control and a unique 'pet mode' for stationary use. Higher trims offer additional luxuries like leather seats, ventilated and heated front seats, and a 6-way electric driver’s seat with memory function. The rear seats fold flat, enlarging the luggage space from 326 liters to 945 liters, catering to the practical needs of families and travelers alike.
The vehicle is powered by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers 70 kW (94 hp) and 160 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between two battery options: a 31.45 kWh battery offering a range of 330 km or a 42.3 kWh battery extending the range to 430 km, according to the CLTC standards. Additionally, the Nammi 01 EV supports external power output (V2L) and is equipped with advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.
In September, the Nammi 01 EV achieved 2,625 sales, ranking it 10th among compact EVs in China. This performance highlights its growing popularity amid competitive pricing and technological enhancements. The model's updates, particularly in technology and color personalization, are expected to attract a broader audience, from young urbanites to environmentally conscious families.
With its strategic pricing and updated features, the 2026 Dongfeng Nammi 01 EV is well-positioned to capitalize on the expanding market for compact electric vehicles in China. As the competition in the EV sector intensifies, Dongfeng's focus on affordability and technological innovation might prove to be a winning combination in sustaining its market presence and appeal.
