Ferrari has unveiled its latest supercar, the 2027 Ferrari 849 Testarossa, a plug-in hybrid that promises to redefine performance with its impressive 1036 horsepower. Replacing the SF90 Stradale, this new model combines a rich legacy with cutting-edge technology, signaling a new era for Ferrari’s lineup.
Ferrari's new 849 Testarossa serves as a successor to the SF90 Stradale, featuring a mid-engine design that houses a formidable twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine. This engine, paired with three electric motors, delivers a combined output of 1036 horsepower. Notably, the vehicle's V-8 engine has been enhanced with new cylinder heads, a redesigned intake, and lighter camshafts. However, the most significant upgrade is the addition of larger turbochargers, increasing the engine's standalone output to 819 horsepower, while the electric motors contribute an additional 217 horses.
In terms of performance, the 849 Testarossa is nothing short of spectacular. Ferrari claims that the car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in just 2.3 seconds, with a top speed that reaches 124 mph in an impressive 6.3 seconds. The electric motors are pivotal in this performance leap, providing torque vectoring and regenerative braking. The rear motor has been specially tuned to mitigate turbo lag, ensuring an immediate throttle response.
The 849 Testarossa is designed to be as visually striking as it is fast. The car's exterior features a significant departure from its predecessors, with larger intercoolers and air intakes that enhance cooling efficiency by 30 percent. The design includes an 18 percent larger front air opening and distinctive vertical air intake bands, a modern twist on the classic horizontal strakes of the original Testarossa. The aerodynamic enhancements continue with a deployable rear spoiler that adds substantial downforce at high speeds.
Ferrari has not neglected the driver experience. Inside, the Testarossa offers a wraparound cockpit with a flying-bridge center console. The absence of a central touchscreen is compensated by a driver-centric display and a dedicated passenger screen. The steering wheel is equipped with physical controls, including an engine start button and the eManettino dial, ensuring that the driver remains fully engaged.
For those seeking even more performance, the Assetto Fiorano variant is available. This version sheds 66 pounds using carbon fiber and lightweight seats, and features a stiffer suspension. The Michelin Cup2 tires enhance grip, while the variant's unique styling is accentuated by twin rear wings and a central stripe. This version is built for those who desire the ultimate in track-ready performance.
Pricing for the 849 Testarossa starts at approximately $540,000 for the coupe and $586,000 for the Spider, with the Assetto Fiorano package adding an additional $62,000. While U.S. pricing has yet to be confirmed, these figures reflect the car's premium positioning. Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-2026, but interested buyers can already place their orders.
