Chery has officially unveiled its latest plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition, marking a significant advancement in the Chinese automaker's offerings. Priced from 19,600 USD, this new model promises a remarkable range of 1,400 kilometers, leveraging an updated powertrain while maintaining the design aesthetics of its predecessor.

The launch of the Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition comes at a time when the global automotive industry is increasingly pivoting towards electric vehicles. This model is available in three trims: Long-Range 2WD, Ultra-Long-Range 2WD, and Ultra-Long-Range 4WD, each offering a distinct set of features tailored to different consumer needs. The entry-level model starts at 139,900 yuan (approximately 19,600 USD), making it a competitive option in the PHEV market. The vehicle's design continues the sleek exterior of the previous model, featuring a closed front face with a through-type LED light strip that adds a modern touch. The dual-color exterior design is a new addition, enhancing its visual appeal.

Under the hood, the Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition is equipped with a 1.5TGDI engine, capable of delivering a maximum power of 115 kW (154 hp) and a peak torque of 220 Nm. Notably, the vehicle's powertrain includes a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and options for two or three electric motors, depending on the trim. This configuration supports a comprehensive range of 1,400 km, thereby setting a new standard in the hybrid segment. The Ultra-Long-Range 4WD variant includes dual front e-motors and a rear e-motor, offering enhanced performance and efficiency.

Inside the vehicle, the cockpit is designed to provide a futuristic driving experience. It features a 24.6-inch dual-screen layout that integrates a full LCD instrument panel and a central control screen. This setup is powered by the Chery Lion 5.0 operating system, running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Additional luxury comes in the form of eight Sony speakers, a 50W wireless charging panel, and a vibrant 256-color ambient lighting system. The foldable rear center console adds a touch of practicality, making it a well-rounded choice for modern drivers.

Chery's decision to label this model as a 'Global Edition' signals its intent to market the vehicle beyond China, tapping into international markets hungry for sustainable automotive solutions. The company has continued to innovate within the PHEV segment, focusing on extending the electric range and enhancing the overall powertrain efficiency. This strategic move not only potentially increases Chery's market share but also strengthens its position as a forward-thinking automaker in the global transition to electric vehicles.

As the automotive industry evolves, Chery's Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition stands out as a testament to the rapid innovation and adaptation seen in today's PHEV market. With its blend of extended range, advanced technology, and competitive pricing, the model is poised to attract a wide array of consumers. As Chery continues to expand its technological capabilities and market presence, this launch represents a crucial step in its journey towards a sustainable automotive future.
