Li Auto, a significant player in China's electric vehicle market, is gearing up for the launch of its latest model, the i6 BEV SUV. Scheduled for release on September 26, the i6 promises to make waves with its impressive specifications, including a 720km range and innovative 5C battery technology. The i6 represents Li Auto's second foray into the pure electric SUV segment, following the less successful launch of the i8. With a focus on improved design and performance, the i6 aims to address the shortcomings of its predecessor while appealing to a broader audience. The vehicle boasts an 800V high-voltage architecture, allowing an impressive range of up to 720km. This is coupled with a 5C lithium iron phosphate battery, enabling rapid charging capabilities that can achieve 500km of range in just 10 minutes of charging. Such features are designed to meet the demands of consumers seeking efficiency and convenience in their electric vehicles.

Design-wise, the i6 continues Li Auto's modern aesthetic, characterized by star-ring daytime running lights, a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, and aerodynamic features such as low-drag wheel rims and hidden door handles. Its dimensions sit at 4950×1935×1655/1670mm, with a substantial wheelbase of 3000mm, offering a spacious interior for its five-seat configuration. The vehicle's silhouette is marked by a sloping roofline and a through-type light strip at the rear, providing not only an elegant profile but also optimized aerodynamics.

Under the hood, the i6 offers both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options. The RWD model comes equipped with a 250 kW motor, while the AWD variant combines a 150kW front motor with a 250kW rear motor. This allows the i6 to cater to a variety of driving preferences, from those seeking efficiency to those desiring more power and control. Industry experts have pointed out the necessity for Li Auto to adopt a competitive pricing strategy, potentially setting the price between 200,000-250,000 yuan (approximately $27,800-$34,750 USD) to boost sales and market penetration.

The i6's launch comes at a critical time for Li Auto, as the company shifts its focus from extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) to pure electric models.
