In a significant accolade for Mazda, the company’s new EZ-60 model has been recognized among the top 10 safest and strongest car bodies in China just ahead of its official launch. This recognition comes from the prestigious China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC), highlighting the vehicle's innovative material use and structural integrity.

Mazda's EZ-60 has made waves in the automotive industry by securing a spot in China's Top 10 Car Body Awards and winning the Best Material Award from the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC). These accolades underscore Mazda's commitment to safety and innovation in vehicle design. The recognition comes in the wake of rigorous testing that the EZ-60 underwent, including a 110 km/h offset frontal collision, a rollover from a 35-meter drop, and a 30-minute immersion test. These tests demonstrated the car's superior structural integrity and the effectiveness of its restraint systems.

The EZ-60's body is crafted with a high proportion of advanced steel, developed in collaboration with Baosteel, which accounts for 86.5% of the vehicle's construction. This includes 27.45% hot-formed steel with tensile strength reaching 2,000 MPa. Such robust materials ensure the car's resilience in extreme conditions and contribute to its safety profile. The vehicle is fortified with multiple reinforcements, including four front impact beams and five-layer A-pillar protection. Additionally, it features nine airbags, including long side curtain airbags and a central airbag to mitigate secondary impacts during side collisions.

Durability and longevity are central to the EZ-60's design philosophy. The vehicle employs GA zinc-iron steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance, and its brake lines have been tested under 3,000-hour salt spray conditions. Moreover, the battery is rated for long-term corrosion resistance, ensuring stability and safety over extended periods. The suspension and braking systems have undergone extensive endurance testing, mimicking over a decade of use, which further exemplifies Mazda's focus on reliability.

Noise reduction is another area where the EZ-60 excels, featuring 17.6 square meters of sound-absorbing materials and layered acoustic glass. These elements, combined with over 100 sealing measures, create a serene cabin environment that enhances overall driving comfort. Mazda's Nanjing plant, where the EZ-60 is produced, is a testament to modern automotive manufacturing. The facility is equipped with over 800 welding robots and advanced torque monitoring systems, ensuring precision and quality across all stages of production. This plant's flexibility allows it to produce eight different models, both electric and combustion engine vehicles.

This is not the first time Mazda has been recognized in the China Top 10 Car Body Awards; the Mazda3 previously received similar accolades. The EZ-60 is set to officially launch on September 26, with dealerships across China already receiving vehicle shipments. The anticipation surrounding this launch is palpable, given the car's impressive pre-launch credentials and the significant number of reservations reported by Mazda.

The EZ-60's launch is part of Mazda's broader strategy to expand its footprint in the new energy vehicle market, leveraging China's advanced manufacturing capabilities. The vehicle is expected to play a key role in Mazda's international strategy, with plans to export it under the name CX-6e for global markets. This move highlights Mazda's commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable automotive solutions worldwide.

The recognition of the Mazda EZ-60 is impressive. However, I wonder how these features will perform in real-world scenarios and not just in a controlled testing environment.

I owned a Mazda a few years back and loved it! If the EZ-60 is anything like my old car, it'll be fantastic! Can't wait to see it on the roads!!

The use of advanced steel, specifically the 27.45% hot-formed steel, is noteworthy. However, real-world crash performance should be critically evaluated alongside these technical specifications.

mazda's claims sound too good. companies always say they use the best materials but how much does it really matter on the road? lets wait and see if this actually proves to be as safe as they say.
