Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept Achieves Megawatt Charging

At the core is a novel battery design that incorporates direct cooling technology, utilizing an electrically nonconductive oil to maintain optimal temperatures within its 3000+ cylindrical NCMA cells. Additionally, the charging system employs a specially designed liquid-cooled CCS charging cable, initially developed for large electric trucks. These technological advancements together pave the way for potential production applications.
Despite being a concept, the implications of the AMG GT XX's achievements are vast. Mercedes-Benz plans to adapt the direct-cooled battery technology for its forthcoming production vehicles, including the AMG GT and the AMG.EA platform. Furthermore, the company is working on introducing a new generation of 600-kW chargers to North America, drawing directly from the prototype's success.
